Rebecca (“Becky”) Belschner is a wife, mother, grandmother and Family Nurse Practitioner, working in family practice in the Myrtle Beach, SC region. Rebecca has been a practicing FNP since 2005. Rebecca was prescribed a benzodiazepine initially for insomnia in the early 1990s. Hitting tolerance in 2015, she decided it was time to stop. After enduring a terrible withdrawal, she feels it is time to help others affected by BWS, as well as educate prescribers.
Her goals are the following: (1) Support others who are currently going through BWS, as well as those who will in the future. (2) Assist in the education of providers of a) recognition of BWS, b) patient-tailored approach to slow weaning of benzodiazepines and c) decrease in the initial prescribing of benzodiazepines.
