Join W-BAD’s Massachusetts representative, Sonja, and W-BAD’s United States representative, Geraldine, as well as many others on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018, in the Longwood Medical area for World Benzodiazepine Awareness Day. Longwood Medical area is a relatively small area comprised of many hospitals, schools and research institutions where over 110,800 professionals, patients, and students visit every day.

W-BAD campaigners will be distributing information to passersby about the harmful effects of benzodiazepines taken as prescribed. This is an all-day event, but the priority periods for distributing educational materials are during heavy foot traffic times: the morning commute, lunch, and the evening commute. If you can’t attend for the whole day, feel free to just attend one or some of those times. If you are too ill to attend in person, feel free to send a loved one on your behalf.

If there is interest, organizers are also looking to plan a (self-pay) group meal somewhere that day (TBA).

The documentary-in-production, As Prescribed (@asprescribedfilm), may be on site filming some of this event.

Important Information:

Note that this event is not a protest; it is meant to be educational in a non-confrontational way. Our message can be controversial (to some) and there is a chance that we will receive pushback, especially in this area. This is a charged issue for all of us. If you run the risk of losing your cool, sit this one out. We don’t want to be asked to leave that day. There are times for civil disobedience, but not at this particular event. Thanks!
