Lori Jane is a retired dental professional of 20 years. While advocating for people with disabilities, fundraising for MDA’s summer camp program, and other programs for disabled children, she is also a wife, mother of two, and grandmother.

Lori was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie Tooth, a form of Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 9. She was prescribed Valium as a child and then Klonopin in 1991 for myoclonic seizures related to CMT. After 25 years of prescribed use and several failed attempts at discontining her medication, she successfully tapered off Klonopin over one year becoming BZ free in Feb 2016.

She now gives back to the benzo community as a full-time active administrator in the Benzodiazepine Liquid Titration Support Group, formally Benzo Withdrawal Support Group. For the past three years, she has helped guide and support members and their families who find themselves in the midst of benzodiazepine withdrawal.

Lori Jane looks forward to being part of this grassroots movement to end the indiscriminate prescribing of benzodiazepines by educating and bringing awareness to patients, doctors, and lawmakers of the devastating effects of long-term benzodiazepine use and advocating for patient-controlled tapers.
